PERCEPCIÓN DE UN SISTEMA DE GRUPOS FLOTANTES EN UNA RESIDENCIA DE CLÍNICA MÉDICA

PERCEPTION OF A “FLOATING GROUP” SYSTEM IN AN INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Resumen

Se plantea en la residencia un modelo de “grupos flotantes” que consiste en períodos de 15 días consecutivos en los que un médico residente de año superior y un residente de primer año trabajan durante la noche, mientras que durante el día el resto de la residencia reemplaza su trabajo. En este estudio se evaluó la percepción de 34 médicos del servicio de clínica médica sobre este sistema. Se concluye que este sistema permitiría mejorar el rendimiento de los residentes, ya que prioriza el adecuado descanso posguardia y mejora en consecuencia la atención médica y la seguridad de los pacientes.

Abstract
The residency contemplates a model of "floating groups" consisting of periods of 15 consecutive days during which a senior resident physician and an intern work in the night shift, while the rest of the residents do their work during the day. In this study, the perception of 34 physicians of the internal medicine service on this system was evaluated. We concluded that this system would allow residents to improve their performance by prioritizing proper rest after guards and consequently improving the medical care and the safety of patients.
